General • CRS3** - switch chip shaping - how?

Sorry for my ignorance!
I am using bridge vlans on the CRS3** series and it works perfectly well - everything done in hardware and no CPU load.
Until now I have not touched anything under /interface ethernet switch
Now I would like to shape the trunk port of a switch, and according to the docs:
https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ ... witch+Chip
..it is done as follows:
/interface ethernet switch port
set ether1 ingress-rate=10M egress-rate=5M

But this requires me to set vlan mode of the switch port.

At the moment I cannot fiddle around with this switch, as it is in production and I cannot risk breaking anything.
So my question is:
How does settings in /interface ethernet switch co-operate with the settings in /interface bridge vlan and /interface bridge port ?
Are the former just extensions to the latter, or are they mutual exclusive, i.e. I will have to choose between them?
Good examples of switch port shaping in hardware, preferably along with bridge port vlans?
